Abstract

The circumference of a spectacle lens is measured by placing the lens between two spring loaded soft pads (34), contacting its edge with graduated dru m (58) and rotating the lens through exactly 360 deg. The revolution is defined by the driving handle (37) which is arranged to closely lock into a groove (44) on the frame. The drum is spring-loaded to lie either against a lens or against the collar (23). A spectacle frame is mounted between pillars with grooves, two pillars underneath (3, 4) and one above (11) each pillar being adjustable in height above the base. A button on the cranked end of an axle (21) is rotated around inside the frame and the drum is said to indicate the perimeter. The axle (21) is slidable axially to allow for a non-planar frame.
