Abstract

A light source typically a laser generates parallel monochromatic light beams. The scanning mirror rotates or swings round an axis and is positioned in the path of the light beams. An optical element between the light source and the scanning mirror converges the light beams only in the direction of the axis of the mirror, so that a linear light source is produced on the face of the mirror. A hologram is formed in the beam path of the divergent light beams which are reflected from the face of the mirror. The light beams converge in a light spot which moves in a straight line.
