Dimersation is effected in the presence of a polymsn. inhibitor selected from sodium nitrile, sodium cobaltinitrile, or sodium nitrosoferricyanide. The derivs. are used for prepn. of terpene resins by reacting with isoprene, vinyltoluene, styrene, or alpha-methylstyrene.
