Abstract

An oil well pump with an outer casing (14) around the smaller dia. inner sleeve (12) containing the reciprocating pump member (18) incorporates a valve (10) in the inner sleeve (12) which forms a seal around the reciprocating actuator rod (16) and separates the lubricant for this rod from the oil being pumped up between the inner (12) and outer (14) sleeves. The housing (32) contains a set of seals (58, 46) and sleeves (54, 64, 30, 40) with threaded portions so that for disconnection for maintenance or repair, the rod (16) is rotated from above, so that its threaded end (74) draws the connector piece (70) upwards into the lower sleeve (64) which in turn is unscrewed, so that the whole can be extracted upwards. Below this region is a ball valve (82) and above it a piston valve (100) controlling the lubricants.
