Abstract

The system consists of a closed circuit channel (1) round which liquid flows, carrying the ballasted containers (6). The containers are guided within the channel by parallel inner mesh walls (4, 5), permitting the liquid to continue moving when a container is halted. A mesh (7) beneath the containers prevents a container being pushed under when a series of containers are held stationary. Gates in the channel stop the containers at measuring positions etc. The liquid is moved by a pump. An alternative assembly uses an annular bath of liquid on the surface of which floats a spiral shaped guide forming the passageway for the containers.
