Abstract

A resin mass (e.g. phenolic, polyester, polymethane, polymeride, natural) containing abrasive particles (e.g. diamond, carbide, silica) is formed into an abrasive body of the desired shape and applied to the surface of a metal (e.g. steel) support which is coated with an adhesive (e.g. polyvinyl, epoxy, polyurethane, polyester, polyacrylate, polyvinyl butyral resin) which bonds chemically to the resin. The abrasive body is then treated to harden it and to bond the adhesive both to the metal support and the abrasive body. The abrasive body is bonded to the metal support in a single process thereby reducing manufacturing costs.
