Abstract

After preparing the ground in the normal way and sowing it a few days afterwards, the third operation is to burn along the furrows to destroy weeds and harmful insects, before the crop germinates. This is done using burners (M), adjustable for position and height, spaced along a bar (K) mounted on a tractor and fuelled by gas in cylinders (U). The final step is to hoe the intervals between the furrows. The time delay between each operation is dependent on weather, temperature, season, etc. The burners are locked on the bar (K) by wing nuts and are adjusted according to the crop which is sown.
