Abstract

Fire resistant plug comprises a sheath enclosing a filling which expands to a multiple of its initial volume at temps. is approx. 150 degrees C. The plug can be used to stop holes or fill gaps around cables, passing through walls, thus preventing transmission of fire through the holes. The expanding material is aq. sodium silicate, held in a steel sheath.
