Abstract

The corrugated wall metallic tube manufacturing process, uses an initially flat metal sheet which is then folded into a U-shape with curved edges. The sheet has at least part of its length placed parallel to a similar U-shape edge so that the sheet edges may be welded together to form the tube. The machine used includes a reel from which the metallic band is fed, rollers drawing the final profile. A curving mandrel receives the stock from the rollers. The mandrel has radially disposed punches or cutting tools which have profiles which are complementary to the profile of the U-shape.
