Abstract

Where television images are displayed on large screens for an audience instead of on normal sized screens, shaded areas appear between the horizontal lines. To overcome this the horizontal lines are made to oscillate and also lines may be displayed two or more times. A video signal is applied to the input (11) of a circuit which enables a large screen to be employed. The input signal is passed via one channel (12) to two parallel switching circuits (15a, 15b) and then to two delay lines (17a, 17b). The input is also routed (13) to a phase comparator (57) where it is synchronised with the divided-down frequency of a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) which controls the delay lines to give line multiplication.
