Abstract
Level detector for the detection of the surface of molten glass, of the type consisting of a container for the glass and comprising (a) a microwave generator, the microwaves from which are transmitted to the surface of the glass by a microwave guide, (b) a detector for stationary waves arranged along the wave guide for the detection of a stationary wave generated therein by reflection from the surface of the glass and (c) means for detecting a variation in the output of the stationary wave detector due to a change in position of the stationary wave relative to the position of the detector, which indicates the type of change in the position of the surface of the glass relative to the wave guide.
