Abstract

A filiform material having a rounded surface is coated with adhesive (pref. by passage through a bath) and textile fibres are electrostatically flocked onto the filiform material such that they adhere to it. The adhesive is then dried by passing the material through a drier and finally the material is rolled up. The method is used partic. for coating electrical cables. Where the material is an electrical cable the fibres protect the cable from wear and reduce the temp. of its outer surface.
