Abstract

A device for supplying catalyst gas for hardening foundry sand moulds, the novelty being that it consists of numerous jet-pipes surrounding the pattern. In the pref. system, the pipes are connected by flexible tubes to a common manifold and are mounted in a frame so the pipes can slide vertically to a position where the jets are clamped very near to the pattern. The advantage is that it is possible to harden a layer of predetermined thickness and the remainder of the mould can be filled with used-sand if the latter is sufficiently permeable to permit the diffusion of the gas.
