Abstract

Acetoxy and pivaloyloxymethyl 5-acetamido-2,4,6-triiodo-N-methyl iso-phthalamates are useful as X-ray contrast agents. They are prepd. by esterification. In an example, sodium 5-acetamido-2,4,6-triiodo-N-methyl-isophthalamate reacts with chloromethyl acetate in DMF at room temp. to give the acetoxymethyl ester.
