Abstract

Gas and electricity meters may be mounted in places more accessible to the meter reader. Since it is not always possible to mount the meter on a wall or stonework a new support is required. A meter support (1) is U-Shaped and has two arms (2, 3). When the support is mounted in the ground the two arms emerge. Two plates (4, 5) with rebates (19, 20, 21, 22) at the edges are clamped together across the arms to form a box shape by means of a single threaded rod (15). The meter box is attached to sockets (7, 8, 9, 10) on the arms using reinforced cement. On the inside of the arms are cut-outs (13, 14) for the meter cables or pipework.
