Abstract

Appts. for grinding and mixing of the type consisting of a rotating vessel and a turbine mixer driven by its own motor has the shaft of the turbine mixer arranged so that it is displaced laterally from the axis of the vessel and in addition has a vertical adjustable scraper blade placed near the vessel wall, the mixer shaft, the vessel axis and the shaft of the scraper blade being in the same vertical plane. In operation, the charge, together with a suitable quantity of grinding balls, is mixed by the turbine mixer, causing the vessels to rotate at a predetermined rate, fixed by a controlling device. When grinding is complete, the turbine motor is stopped and the vessel is rotated at high speed by its own motor, discharging the contents by centrifugal force through a sieve, fixed at the top of the vessel, which holds back the grinding balls. The eccentric turbine mixer improves rotation of the vessel and brings about better mixing and grinding, with no dead zones.
