Abstract

The master cylinder has two pistons. These are usually proportioned so that whereas their areas differ, displacements of fluid are identical. The primary piston is connected with the control system and the master cylinder. The secondary piston communicates with the primary braking circuit. Devices of this type are difficult to machine and the patent seeks to remedy this. It uses pistons of different areas but these do not have to operate in a main cylinder of differing diameters. This is done by inserting a sleeve in the main cylinder bore. One piston slides within the sleeve, the other within the bore.
