Abstract

Process comprises compacting powder to form green strip feeding the green strip to a sinter furnace, and supporting the strip by a gaseous cushion as it is transported through the furnace, the strip transport being controlled so that the tensile stress applied to the strip during its passage through the furnace is substantially zero.
