Abstract
Image converter comprises a nematic-liquid crystal and a photosensitive element in layers face to face and separated by an optical barrier. The device is exposed from the side of the photosensitive element, to light from an image to be converted and from the other to a beam of light for projection of the image. The appts. includes a source providing a potential difference between conductive layers on the inside faces of glass blocks which retain the assembly. A mosaic of small glass mirros is disposed on the face of the optical barrier in contact with the liquid, to reflect projected light. The optical barrier is made from a series of electrically conductive plugs insulated from each other and each in contact with one end of the small mirrors, and fixed at the other end to the photosensitive element. They are embedded in an insulating body forming the rest of the optical barrier between the plugs. The liquid crystal is retained in the cavity by stoppers. Septn. of the light beams is effected cleanly so that the image projected is an exact replica of the image received without distortion due to extraneous light.
