Abstract
When necessary to convert the indications of graduations on instruments, normally observed by eye, into electric signals which can be either analogue or digital signals, a cathode ray tube is used which is sensitive to light and on which the circular or elliptical image of the projected graduations is first of all centred by commands, in stages, of the deflection of the ray on different lines by evaluation of the video signal. When this position is achieved the projection of the index pointer is then measured with respect to the graduations. Successive stages of deviation of the ray on different lines are engaged automatically by comparing the video signal with pre-set criteria.
