Abstract

Compsn. comprises an aq. surfactant soln., pref. an alkali alkyl aryl sulphonate, and is used when applying sealants to joints and for smoothing the material before or after application. The compsn. contains 15-60%, specif. 30%, surfactant, about 5% citric acid and the remainder softened water. The elastomers used as sealants in the building trade are usually sticky to touch and tend to adhere to the hand or spatula used so that it is difficult to obtain a smooth finish. By moistening the hands or spatula with surfactant soln. the material may be easily handled and a smooth finish obtd.
