Abstract

Foul-smelling waste water is purified before being run away, by circulating it through an installation having a number of swill grids each comprising a large quantity of small capillary tubes, possible of plastic material, welded together cut in segments, and held in a frame. The depth of the water on the grids is controlled by a weir and the air necessary for processing the liq. is blown upwards through the capillary tubes, its press. preventing the passage of the liq. through them. The grids may be in batteries one above the other in a closed vessel, or offset in terraces, the water passing through successive stages of treatment and recycled if necessary.
