Abstract

The dyes of formula (where n = 1-3, K is the gp. of a coupling component of alpha or beta-hydroxynaphthalene, 1-aryl 3-methyl pyrozolone-5 or acyl acetic acid aryl amide series, ring B may be substd. with 1 or 2 lower alkyl or halogen, or 1 phenyl, alkoxy or alkoxy gp. Q is a gp. of formula R1R2N+-NH2, -N+R3R4R5, -N+R1R2 OR6, with anions A- or NR7R8 R1 to R4 are lower alkyl opt. substd. by OH, R5 and R6 are lower alkyl, R7 is as R1, H, phenyl or cyclohexyl opt. substd. with 1-3 methyl, R8 is as R1, R1 and R2 R3 and R4 or R7 and R8 together may form part of a pyrrolidine, piperidine, morpholine or piperazine gp. R3R4 and R5 together may form part of a pyridinium ring or The dyes are suitable for mass or dip-dyeing of paper, have good cold water solubility, leave little colour in effluent water and are insensitive to pH. The colours are brilliant and fast to light, water, milk, fruit juices, alcohol etc.
