Abstract

Tin cans are sterilized before or after filling by conveying them pref. on an endless belt between 2 rows of direct gas heating jets guided by hollow water cooled rails adjustable to accommodate cans of different sizes. The belt is supported on water-cooled longitudinal supports and pref. comprises stainless steel plates linked by hinges. The sterilizer has a more rapid heating cycle than known steam operated types.
