Abstract

Pharmaceutically utilisable salts of (a) a basic quinoline cpd. having anti-inflammatory activity (pref. (hydroxy)chloroquine, cycloquine or amodiaquine) and (b) a benzopyran, anthraquinone, fluorenone, or xanthone cpd. which an acidic gp. and a ketonic O atom which is effective in the treatment of states caused by antigen-antibody reactions (pref. 1,3-bis(2-carboxychromon-5-xloxy)-2-hydroxypropane or 7-(2-hydroxyethoxy)-xanthone-2-carboxylic acid) and pharmaceutical mixts. contg. (i) a cpd. of the type used in component (b) and (ii) an anti-inflammatory agent, components (i) and (ii) being such that they have an additive effect in the inhibition of the reversed passive Arthus reaction in rats, inhibit the release and/or action of pharmacological mediators resulting from combination of certain types of antibodies and specific antigens. They are useful in the treatment of disorders such as allergic rhinitis, trachoma and urticaria.
