Abstract
When the ratio of nitrogen oxides to sulphur dioxide in the waste gases to between 0.1 and 3 both can be virtually completely removed by subjecting the gas to ionising irradiation, pref. 1 megarad in the form of accelerated electrons. The ratio can be adjusted to be in the required range by removing one of the components partially in a simple pretreatment.
