Abstract

An opaque white glass is made by forming a melt of a glass in the system CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 in the metastable demixing domaine thereof, at 1530-1580 degrees C; cooling to 1380-1480 degrees C while pouring; and shaping into strip while cooling at 200-350 degrees C/min. The glass is used as cladding material, e.g. for buildings.
