Abstract

N-Contg cpds. are reacted with Co at elevated temp. and press. using a transition metal with I2 or Br2 as catalyst system. The process gives improved yields and prod. purity. It is also used in the prepn. of azoles, indoles, 2-substd. quinolines and 2,3,5-trialkylpyridines.
