Abstract

A device sensing >=1 component of a fluid substance comprises a compsn. reactive with the fluid component(s) to liberate elemental Cl, Br, F or esp. I on exposure to the component, (b) a porous matrix electrode, through which the liberated halogen passes, and (c) a solid electrolyte cell, with a current measuring device across its electrodes, including the porous electrode (b), to measure prodn. rate of the halogen, which is linearly proportional to the concn. of the fluid component. Operates without external power supply over wide temp. range, with linear response over whole range.
