Abstract

Temp. indicator contains a support with a temp. indicator pt. divided into a no. of separated spaced-out zones. Each zone contains a heat-responsive material (I), consisting of a solid soln., which undergoes a change of state at an accurate and pre-determined temp., which is different from that in another zone. Temp. indicator also contains an absorbent layer above each (I), intimately linked to (I), and indicating agents, esp. pigments or dyes, above- and intimately linked to the absorbent layers, in order to facilitate temp. readings. (I) may be a binary mixt. of 1-menthol : dl-menthol, dimethyl succinate : dimethyl oxalate, 4-C1-2-methyl aniline : 4-Br-2-methyl aniline, n-Bu sulphoxide : n-Bu sulphone or pref. o-chloronitrobenzene : o-bromonitrobenzene, or a ternary mixt. of p-dichlorobenzene : p-bromochlorobenzene : triphenyl methane or p-dichlorobenzene : p-bromochlorobenzene : naphthalene.
