Abstract

In the appts. the rinsing compartment includes a waiting and a regularising section in order to render the advance and discharge of the tubers, such as beetroots, more continuous and regular. The sepn. and the mud-removing compartments are provided with means for mixing and moving the beets forward while the screen is rotated by motors and driving rings. The partitions are of plane steel with openings in the centre for the passage of the beets while the regularising section is made of perforated sheet and has the form of a section of a divergent cone. Radial blades and a continuous helical strip regularise the discharge of the washed beets; these are tipped directly into the next item of equipment or are lifted by an elevating wheel.
