Abstract

Isopropyltoluene hydroperoxides are continuously prepd. by oxidn. of an isopropyltoluene mixt. contg. o-, m- & p- isomers, with recylisation of non-reaction isoprepyltoluene mixt. The o-isopropyltoluene content of the mixt. continuously led into the reaction zone is controlled at 4-8 wt 6. The peroxides may be split to give cresols and acetone. Yields and quality are increased.
