Abstract

The base is prepd. by fractionating mixts. of fatty acids remixing certain acids corresp. to human sebum and esterifying the acids. Animal and vegetable oils are mixed with alkaline alcohol and hydrolysed. The non-saponifiable acids are removed and the water extract acidified and mixed with mineral oil. the oil layer is extracted with ether and the prod. distilled at 120-220 degrees C/1-2mm Hg to give free acids such as laulic, nyristic, myristoleic, palmitic, palmitoleic, stearic etc. The products maintains healthy human skin.
