The compsns. contain (A) >=1 electron-donating chromatic organic cpds., (B) >=1 cpd. with a phenolic OH gp. and (C) >=1 alcohols, esters, ketones and/or ethers. The compsns. undergo sharp colour changes within the range -100 to 200 degrees C by suitable combination of (A), (B) and (C), a free choice of colour and temp. of change is obtd., the basic colour being determined by (A), the colour change by (B) and the temp. at which this occurs by (C).
