Abstract

Adhesives for bonding polybutene-1 articles comprises a hot mass contg. (a) 1-40 wt.% of a highly isotactic polybutene-1 with an RSV value of 2.0-8.0, (b) 60-99 wt.% of an extremely atactic polybutene-1 and (c) opt. 1-30 wt.% of a polybutene oil. The adhesives are made by hot mixing the components at 100-220 degrees C, and are applied hot and have long working period (e.g. 10 mins). They are esp. useful for bonding polybutene-1 pipes using a sleeve over the joint e.g. in underground pipelines.
