Abstract

Piston rings are produced from a grey-solidified, alloyed, elongated cast iron blank by casting and subsequently rolling, pressing or hot-hammering, pref. before bending into an annular shape, so as to impart an elonaged shape to the grains of graphite which have their longitudinal axes mainly in the longitudinal direction of the blank.
