Abstract

In vertical cross section, the melt channel through the body of the die is S-shaped. The molten material is fed down a vertical pipe into the top bar of the S, which in plan view is triangular, the pipe at its apex, the base of the triangle is a vertical slot forming one vertical limb of the S, and the centre horizontal part of the S is curved along its second edge over the whole width of the die as is the second vertical limb of the S leading to the plane output channel leading in turn to the extrusion slot.
