Abstract

Prepn. of lysine by fermentation in which a gram-negative mutant of a bacterium obtained by growing the bacterium on a solid culture medium contg. an analogue of lysine is grown in the second stage on a solid culture medium contg. threonine or an analogue, and an analogue of lysine. The mutants give good yields with cheap substrates. A pref. organism, Pseudomonas-acidovorans L6 was grown on a Na succinate medium contg. aminomethylcysteine. The resistant mutant strains were collected, and a pref. strain L6A45 was grown contg. aminomethylcysteine and threonine. A pref. resistant mutant from this second stage L6A45At10 gave 15.7% yield of lysine based on the Na succinate substrate.
