Abstract

The Ti(alloy) piece, in a fluid medium based on a C-contg. cpd. is h.f. heated for (pref. for 3-5 mins. at 0.2 megacycles) to bring its surface to >1100 degrees C. The fluid comprises a cpd. or mixture of cpds. based on C and >=1 of F, Cl, Br, S, Se, O and N. Pref. the fluid is CS2, CCl4, CF4, CO or (CN)2 or a mixture of >=2 of these.
