Abstract

A section of a textile web is impregnated with a treatment fluid by e.g. passage through a bath and then compressed with an unimpregnated section of the web pref. between an assembly of foulard rollres and presser roller to transfer some of the treatment fluid (e.g. 10-35%) to the unimpregnated section of the web. Subsequently the impregnated section is subjected to conventional finishing processes and preF. the unimpregnated section is advanced through the bath and impregnated. The method is used for applying dye or water proffing, anti-crush, anti-shrink agents etc. The process is economic and the cost of drying the impregnated web is reduced. Pref. the treatment fluid contains pigments & an adhesive which cures on drying.
