Abstract

Finishing compsn. for glass fibres consists of (wt.%) 2.5-3.5 esp. 2.81 polyvinyl acetate homo-polymer latex, 6.0-7.5 esp. 6.55 polyvinyl acetate latex, 1.25-1.75 esp. 1.50 methacrylato-chromic chloride, 0.100-0.50 esp. 0.125 gamma-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane, 0.100-0.15 esp. 0.13 cationic reaction pdt. of pelargonic acid and tetraethylenepentamine, 0.020-0.030 esp. 0.025 cationic methallylamino reaction pdt. of pelargonic acid and tetraethylenepentamine, and 87-90 esp. 88-735 dimineralised water treated tow or baths of glass fibres preserve their structure, and can be easily chopped. Synthetic resin can be rapidly applied to the treated material without agglomerating. The treated material is resistant to variations in temp. and humidity.
