Zinc rich paint having alkyl polysilicate as a binder contains sufficient (pref. 1-15 wt.% on silicate) of an alkali metal alkoxide such as Na ethoxide to catalyst hardening of the paint. Coatings of the above are moisture curable to very hard, tough coatings.
