Abstract
Shock-resistant compsns based on 60-98% pref. 85-98%. PVC resin with a viscosity index below 90, 2-40% pref. 2-15% of a shock-reinforcing resin contain also 0.5-15% pref. 1-12%, by weight of the PVC, of an adduct having a Flory-Huggins parameter X of interaction above 1 in the PVC PVC-adduct system. The PVC resin may be a homo- or copolymer of the block, suspension or emulsion type. The shock-reinforcing resin is a methyl metacrylate/styrene copolymer grafted on polybutadiene, an acrylonitrile/styrene copolymer grafted on polybutadiene, a butadiene/acrylonitrile copolymer grafted on PVC, or a mixture of PVC and EVA copolymer. The adduct is chosen from long chain olefines, long chain paraffins, octyl stearate, cetyl alcohol or bis-methylene-stearamide. The compsns. have high shock resistance and hot fluidity index and good Vicat softening pt. and satisfactory transparency. They are used for making hollow bodies, calendered sheets and rigid profiles.
