Therapeutic compsns. contng. as active component hetacephalexin or one of its pharmaceutically acceptable salts, esp. the sodium salt of D-hetacephalexin. In mice, its CD50 against Sf. pyogenes A 9604, is 2 x 36 mg./kg. orally and 2 x 24 mg./kg. s.c. Against E. coli the CD50 is 2 x 26 mg./kg. both orally and s.c.
