Abstract

Antipeptic medicament (tablets or capsules) for treating gastric or intestinal ulcers contains laevan sulphate of m.wt. 1000-5000. In contract to the known sulphated polysacclarides, low m.wt. laevan sulphates (below 5000) do not significantly prolong the clotting time of blood. They have a S content of 16-18%, an intrinsic viscosity of 0.027-0.035 and can be used in combination with antacids.
