Abstract
Cell comprises and transparant acoutso-optical modulate block of SiO2, LiNbO3 or lead molybdate, with Sn, Ti or Au electrodes on either side of an electroacoustic transducer material having grooves in it to cut down the total contact area in each contact place. Body is assembled by vacuum depositing the electrodes on the two blocks and pressure welding. Introduction of the grooves improves the life of the welded joint. Device bends a beam of light passing through the modulator block according to the frequency of waves applied electrically to the transducer.
