Abstract

Extrusion die emits a series of parallel webs with wide bridges between each pair of webs and with adjacent rows of bridges offset from one another. Pref. the die comprises a pair of radial outlets sepd. by a thin plate and with radial partitions in the upper die offset w.r.t. similar partitions in the lower die. Output from the dies is interrupted by a pair of aannular knives which reciprocate to allow the extrudate to emerge in cycles from each die in turn with an inter. period when part of each die is exposed, causing an overlap in the gaps between the adjacent webs.
