Abstract

The stages are stacked vertically one above the other and sub-divided into two chains, interleaved, in which however a number of the individual features of all the stages are connected in one complete series. Each stage has a steam manifold from which horizontal tubes pass through an evaporation chamber to a condenser chamber, steam from this evaporator passing to the steam manifold of the next stage together with steam from a flash still into which non evaporated residue is passed from the evaporator collector sump. Multiple cross-linking is used to increase the overall yield for a given heat energy input.
