Abstract

Direct method drawing presses having a billet container (I) with an adjacent die, a rammer (II) driven along the drawing axis by a drive element (III) partic an hydraulic jack, the billets being charged at the (II) stage of (I), and (II) is rigidly connected to (III) during at least the part of the pressing cycle which includes the extrusion phase, and is mobile on (III) during the charing phase. The work path of (III) equals the length of (I) and in the recessed posn. it leaves, with (I), a space slightly longer than the length of the billet, the space being cleared by movement of (II).
