Abstract

Concentration and purification of Australia antigen for preparation of purified suspensions for treating hepatitis, polyarteritis, leukaemia and Down's syndrome by fractional ultracentrifugation, concentration by ultrafiltration followed by a second and optionally a third ultracentrifugation, the effluent fractions being displaced from the ultracentrifuge bowl by sucrose and/or dipotassium tartrate solutions of increasing density. The suspensions may be extracted to give immunoglobulins which may be used in diagnostic methods.
